We are a growing British Judo Association Judo Club, based in Chandler School Witley near Godalming Surrey.
Everyone is welcome, we accept children from age 5 up to adults of any age. (we have had a 90 year old on the Tatami in the past)
At Witley JC we are not just a club, we are a team who respect each others abilities, and we help each other out with the more experienced helping those who have just started or are looking to progress to that next grade.
On a Saturday our Seniors start before our Juniors finish, with the Seniors and Juniors joining in a Judo based game so that our Juniors get to know our Seniors.
Our Classes
monday night seniors
On Monday nights our Seniors train between 19:45hrs and 21:30hrs. This is a heavy duty training session. The first Monday each month is RANDORI Night.
With the exception of Easter & Christmas the Club is OPEN on Bank Holidays
saturday morning is time for the younger judo athletes
We start at 09:00hrs with the Judo Kids & younger Juniors (age 5 to 9) who finish at 10:00hrs, and then at 09:50hrs our older Juniors (age 10 to 15) start to come onto the Tatami ready for their session which starts at 10:00hrs and finishes at 11:30hrs
We start with a good warm up to get those muscles working using Animal Style movements and then on to some Judo Training.
Parents are always welcome to stay and watch, we even have a Tea/Coffee bar which opens at as soon as Judo Kids start at 09:00hrs so you can buy and enjoy a morning coffee whilst watching your child progress in the sport.
Seniors Judo
At 11:30hrs its time for Seniors to start their training. This is a mixed level Seniors from complete beginner to 5th DAN. The session also includes our older Juniors. (14+). The session finishes at 13:30hrs.
Our Seniors start arriving at 11:20hrs and go on the Tatami during the Juniors last 10 minutes which is the Juniors Randori time and help out. (this also has the advantage of the Juniors & Seniors getting to know each other for when the Juniors move up or even at County or National Competitions so they can support members of their own club)
FRIDAY NIGHT TECHNICAL TRAINING
‘On most Friday Nights we run Judo Technical Training. This is for the serious Judoka who competes in the Sport of Judo, and is only open to experienced Judoka. (sorry no beginners permitted) The session has a maximum limit of 10 Judoka training. The session is perfect for the Judoka looking to improve their technical skills.
This session is open to Judoka from other Clubs, and is perfect for the Judoka who is competing in Surrey or Hampshire at the weekend.
Due to the limit on numbers booking is essential, priority will be given to Witley Judoka.
The Friday Technical Training session costs £10 (unless registered Witley member). The Friday Technical Training Session CAN NOT be used as a trial session.
Whilst the session runs most weeks, it does not run every week either due to insufficient numbers to cover costs or because the hall is unavailable. Hence booking is required by 18:00hrs on the Wednesday. As stated above priority will be given to members of Witley Judo.
